Hi all... three of you... haha. How be things going for you? They be mostly fine here. My buddy and best friend is officially back from Iraq! I got to have some lunch and a few beers with him this afternoon. It was great and hilarious conversation. Haha. Did I mention before that he has an 8 tattooed on his right testicle? It's his lucky 8 ball. HA! What a guy.
Things here are going as busily as ever. I'm still running the show with my sustainability group. I did an interview with the ISU Daily (a campus newspaper) over the weekend, set up an industry rep for our next EGB member meeting, lead a LEED AP study session and have been continuing on with the ISU Solar Decathlon. Oh! I never mentioned that before because it was on the hush hush until we got the official bid in to the competition! The Solar Decathlon is an international competition of 20 universities to build the most efficient/marketable/comfortable/economical/etc solar powered home and then present/run it for 10 days out at the mall in Washington DC (this time in fall 2009). And my school, Iowa State, is in the competition. Planning and design is happening now, but hopefully within the next few months I'll actually get the opportunity to build and test some components on the house. The real construction certainly won't start until early next year - but that is going to be insanely fun. So that's that.
Exam week was last week. How convenient that they all cram their shit into the same time period, huh? I had 3 exams, 2 labs, and 1 quiz last week. 1 test the week before and another today. Grades went well, for the most part, I suppose. I even got 100% on construction methods and materials! Sweet ass. Way to go, me! So life has definitely been busy, but for the most part, rewarding. I'm really feeling much more invested in my life and the path I'm taking right now and must say I'm please to be along for my own ride. Tomorrow is the engineering career fair, so I'm going to have to bust out the old pinstripe and present my best - speaking of which, I need to update my resume still. But this time I'm more confident... this time I know they want to hire me... they just don't know it yet. I think it'll be a positive experience.
Well the headache from the mid afternoon beers is settling in, so I'm thinking I ought to call it a night. Take care all three of you. PEACE!
