I don't really remember my Grandfather on my father's side. Nothing like my Grandmother or my great grandmother. The women in my family are strong and pretty much in control.,I don't talk to my grandmother any more. I made a choice not to see my father when he was in town, and because of that choice I got booted out of the family.
My grandmother was the tallest women I've ever met, she towered over most people except my father. She stands at 6 feet 2 inches. I remember looking of photo's of her in Norway she was beautiful in her youth her hair so black and she has these bright blue eyes. she's not dainty at all. But I'm not saying she was big or over weight just a tall women is not going to be a twig.... well a tall norway woman.
She and my Great Grandmother Told me so many stories , of Dragons , Trolls, elves, gods and Goddess, and witches. Though witches were feared they were respected as well. Before they were destroyed by some church.
One of my favorite stories was Of a girl Named Jostedalen Grouse ,
The Jostedal Grouse was a girl who survived the Black Plague (it hit Norway in 1349). She was the only one left alive in her valley.
Lessons
Jostedalen lies beneath a big glacier
The girl had to live alone for a long time. Eventually someone from another village found her and married her, despite the feathers that had started to grow all over her body when she lived all by herself. They were the only two survivors around after the Plague, old stories tells.
The Jostedal Grouse and her husband became the ancestors of many odd folks along the western coast. Many were fond of setting sail and story-telling.
The way my grandmother told it was amazing. Nothing like this but.....
Greek Pythias described Norway where the laws of nature seemed to be suspended, where earth and water and air came together and everything seemed to float about freely.
I'm bored and I'm just remembering things,

I wouldn't say that was a more interesting topic for discussion, although it is without a doubt - something I'd rather be doing right now

Bender sometimes thinks the floor is hot lava so he stands at the edge and whines. It's bizarre.
