I know the feeling about bitching about your city, but having an affinity for it nonetheless. There was one time at which I'd have been quite happy to stay in my hometown for the rest of my life. It was a good size for me, and I knew it. Those can be tremendous comforts.

When pressed as to just why I wanted to stay there, particularly when it was hemmoraging its young to major centres like Toronto at an unbelievable rate, I thought for a moment and answered:

"It's not that I really like it here. It's that I really hate everywhere else."

Although I'll have to give Jacksonville the benefit of the doubt until we can find an excuse to spin down and check out Florida.

I don't know offhand how much of a gamer you are, but have you ever had the chance to check out Grand Theft Auto: Vice City? It's based on a stylized version of Scarface's Miami, but takes some really funny jabs at the stereotypical culture of Florida. One of the talk radio stations you can listen to while driving around features John F. (for Florida) Hickory arguing that Florida needs a "freedom river", by which they mean digging a huge trench at the border to seperate Florida from the US so it can float out to sea as its own country. Also in the debate is Pastor Richards arguing that Florida needs a huge statue of himself in which the faithful can live until the end of the world, at which point the statue will blast into space carrying the virtuous. It's pretty funny stuff, and you might get a kick out of it.

So far this weekend, I've gone to the strip club and spent a metric ton of money (and once again, my table full of idiot friends don't regret a dime of it), woken up, napped twice, eaten too much pizza, and watched a horror movie that I didn't enjoy (Cabin Fever) but which had a bunch of extras on the DVD that I did enjoy a great deal. Is that weird? Then, I went into work just to rescue some games that I bought Friday along with my iPod, and went to the gym (thank god for all day gyms) to blow off some steam and a few hundred calories. Tomorrow, I think the girl is taking me to get my ears pierced. Whee!

Something bad? I shot a man in Reno. Just to watch him die.
