Well, there is nothing mediocre about Hollywood. It's both depressing and hilarious at the same time.

Today I accompanied a friend of mine to Central Casting in Burbank for an extras registration something or other. It was amazing to see how many people show up for the hour long time slot. It's amazing how aspiring actors look so different than average Joes. I was able to locate the building by the look of the people standing out front. During the wait inside, though, I couldn't help but think about the circumstances of all those that were there. The people who had come from across the country (and globe??) to realise their dreams, the people desperate to fulfill their only(?) hope of happiness, and the people who had no clue how shallow Hollywood was and that they hadn't a chance in the world of making it in the biz. Surely not everyone fit these molds, but I'm also sure that a shocking number did.

It was crazy that I spotted Busy Phillips (Audrey from Dawson's Creek) in line, giving moral support to one of her friends. Her "disguise" was ridiculous. Those incredibly large sunglasses were sooo inconspicuous in the dimly lit room. Apparently, a lot of celebrities think the Clark Kent/Superman phenomenon makes perfect sense. If I become famous, I'll just walk around telling people I'm invisible.
