I'm so fucking depressed. frown

Two of my buddies, who got to the same unit at the same time I did and who also served with me for a year in Iraq, are leaving the Army for good and going home on the 24th and 26th, respectively.

I've been in the Army long enough to not have a hard time saying goodbye, and I believe that sometimes friends have nothing in common, other than the immediate situation. I had previously tried keeping friends who left the service, but when we would talk, all we had to talk about was the Army and we realized we had nothing in common.

Not so with these two. The three of us (and there was a fourth who is back in Iraq) were very similar. We all knew that we could only talk about certain things around each other. Talk about things that would even offend our male friends back home. Deviant things. smile

We made horribly dirty jokes. Jokes I don't even want to repeat here out of fear of being taken too seriously.

At any rate, the Army brings together people from all around the country and after I come back to Germany from visiting home for the holidays, they will be home permanently in Texas and Maryland.

We have just *one* more weekend together, and then that's it.

Forever. frown

(I apologize for this errant outburst.)

Wish I had something to cheer you up, but nyet. My imagination remains dedd in exam season.

It's neat to find someone stationed in Germany, though. I lived there for three years when my dad was stationed near Nurenburg. Methinks it looks very different at your age. wink
