welp today started wonderful. another gym in marietta called and scheduled an interview with me tomorrow at 9:30 am.
so i was getting ready for my 2:30 interview, left at 1:30, got off the exit at 2:00, almost got to the place, and BAM! i get blocked by a downed tree, and got sent through a detour. just as i almost got back on track, BAM! theres another downed tree. i had to detore through 5 downed trees and 2 closed roads. and after driving around for an hour, im completely lost. so now im pissed... lost, late, shitty traffic cause theres traffic lights down, shitty weather from this fucking tropical storm, im hungry, cold, and i have to pee.
so once i found a road i recognized, im way away from where im SUPPOSED to be going. fuck it. im going home.
i called her when i got home and she completely understood. she rescheduled for thursday at 8:00 am.
then comes my 6:00 phone interview. (basically role playing calls and handling situations, up-selling customers, and converting literature requests into sales.) this is THE job i want more than anything.... and i completely BOMBED! i know those products inside, outside, upside down and backwards... BUT, approaching someone who just wants to get a free brochure and trying to get them to BUY something is hard as hell. i couldnt think of how to transfer from the request to the pitch to the sale. i just apologized profusely. he asked did i need some time to work on the pitch and i said yes. so i am supposed to call him back later this week whenever im ready. still, i feel like i completely blew it. why would he give me a second chance when theres prolly someone out there that can ace it first try?

some ideas....strike up a conversation. If they are calling for free literature ask them where they heard about us, do you have a girlfriend/boyfriend. Be very personable and sweet (I'm sure you already are) and persistent.
I dunno, I'm no salesperson though, that's why I work on computers.
