My best friend of seven years is leaving on Wednesday for boot camp at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.
This all came as a shock to me as I listened to the phone message he left on my answering machine.
The scary thing about this is that he is not joining the Army to go to war, but instead to study a language and later become an FBI agent. There is, however, a complete possibility that he will be shipped out to Iraq immediately following basic training. I guess he has taken all of this into consideration.
I have not seen him in months, and tomorrow will be the last time I do before he leaves. I hope that I will see him sometime after, as well.
