I suppose I must make the obligatory blog from the airport. My flight home, to San Jose leaves in twenty minutes, and I can't help but feel that it's a shame I'm leaving today, because the weather is absolutely stunning, everything is green and smells fresh. I pray I can find my way up to Marin county, it would seem wine and cheese tasting in Point Reyes would suit my mood wonderfully and I haven't been to The Cowgirl Creamery in years!

Work has been wonderful lately, despite the high tensions, a resulty of the upcoming changes no doubt. The farmers are starting to come round again with their amazing produce, two standing out in my mind especially; one is a giant yeti of a hippie, he sells a beautiful hearty spring mixed greens, the most amazing baby beets I've ever had, so sweet, yet with a slightly peppery finish. He also has beautiful french breakfast radishes, and rocket arugela (for those of you not in the know, it's a varietal arugela, with skiny, spidery leaves, smooth and savory at first bite, and on the tail end your pallate is hit with a rush of heat), green garlic and sweet sweet spring onions. The other purveyor is a guy that wandered in the other day, he calls himself "The Mushroom Man" he forages in the woods and sells his finds to restaurants. He has ramps (a midwest thing, swamp onions if you will), and the most beautiful salad greens ever, he calls them "wild greens" they are basicly a blend of edible plants he picks in fields, mustard flower, wildl lillys, lemon balm, red minor's lettuce and false sorrel, (the most simple and clean salad ever) -- he brought us first of the season morel and porcini mushrooms, clean, firm, much better than the other mushroom purveyors product! I love the spring! My flight is boarding, ciao!
