My rustic mood led to a wonderful weekend. My dad and sister came for a visit and we went to the coast, a welcome relief from this sweltering, apocolyptic heat (Woohoo for global warming!) Hiked to the tip of cape lookout, staring off the cliff to the blue and white crashing below I realized that heights still terrify me, and here I thought I was fearless -- life has a way of reminding you where you stand. He left early sunday morning, but left me the rental car with me, and told me I could use is untill today, I am so grateful as he was taking a big risk, my suspended, expired driver's liscene has been causing me headaches for months.

I grabbed my dearest friend, and we went on a two day hiking tour of Oregon, saw seven waterfalls, went swimming, drove two hours away, camped ilegally, deep in the forest, drank wine, roasted marshmellow and told stories (she has a great and literary mind, and posesses a fantasic gift for storytelling and a wit unlike any other). Went to the top of a mountain, where I got altitude sickness, went down the mountain, hiked 6 miles, got lost and b some impossible fluke ended up ten miles from the car, walked down the side of the highway, hitchhiked back to the car and went home. Fabulous!
