Went to the mall today here's what I wrote while waiting for Laura and Zoe:
The smell of stale pretzels caressed my face as I entered the space. A tinge of salty yeast mixing with the sterility of the indoor environment. Less than half a mile away the ocean pounded sand into mud bringing a cleansing atmosphere from across thousands of miles. Yet here, it failed to penetrate. Capitalism invades all senses in a place such as this: neon, faux marble, brilliant packages, over processed food products, hints of industrial grade perfume pummel the five into one dizzying coalescence of 21st century modernity. God save us all, but I want one of those cardboard pretzels. I can taste its salty nothingness razing my palate; filling me with leaden paste. I know, however, intake such blatant illusion necessitates a chaser of carbonized sucre. Carcinogens on top of heartburn does little to quell the hunger inside. Well pick you up before 3rd street, they claimed, well pick you up before 3rd street How is it I get roped into these situations of assaut desprit? How is it I fall for obvious visual tricks of persuasion? Ah, my stomach is calling for that pretzel!! I must have it.
