My aunt asked me at my rehersal dinner a typical question about my nose ring. She wanted to know about boogers and what happens when I get colds. I told her the booger part was easy and I told her I didn't really know first hand about the cold part because I had not had since my nose was pierced. I can truthfully say now that it is no different than before I had the nose ring in. Hypothesis proven to theory.

My head feels like a giant balloon with 50 pounds weights sloshing around and I feel like a mac truck drove over me and then hit reverse and drove over me again. This sucks. I wanted to go to the Rennaisance Festival tomorrow. frown

I was trying for 5 minutes to find my old Journal where Eno discussed Duchamp's Fountain. I copied it out of Eno's diarybook and I didn't feel like typing it all again...

Synopsis- Duchamp's Fountain, i.e. the surrealist readymade, the found item introduced as art, is a challenge to the nature of what makes art ART. If you title it, sign it ("R. Mutt"), and put it in an exhibition, is it art?
Eno's particular story was about when Fountain was brought on tour to a city he was in. It was encased in fancy glass, and Eno noted (with chagrin) that the very nature of the piece, that any item could be art, was being subverted and bastardized by the fact that Fountain was being toured, plexiglassed, revered as the famous urinal, when Duchamp's point all along was that it could've been any urinal... they coulda dragged out the museum's, or one from the bus station...

So, to sort of bring Fountain full circle, to return it to its former position, Eno felt he had to do one thing- urinate on it. Now, he couldn't do that. It was in a museum. But he noticed the plexiglass had gaps in it. He collected a small tube of piss, came back to the museum, and... Fountain was returned to its humble origins, and therefor Duchamp's message was renewed.

Any, that's my recollection of Eno's essay, and I got Comments to go make.

Take a bunch of Tussin and skip work
