Crazy thing happened last night. I was driving my girlfriend to her apartment after dinner last night. It was raing like mad, an as we drive in, there was this girl walking down the middle of the road. In the rain. At night. Anyway, I drove by her and didn't think anything about it.
So I drop off my girlfriend, and head back out, but on the way out, that girl stops me in the middle of the road. As I'm rolling down my window and pulling up beside her, she barely wheezes out "I can't breathe." So I start freaking out. I hop out of my truck and walk her around to the passenger seat. She said she was having an asthma attack and she didn't have an inhaler, and then she promptly fell unconscious.
Oh shit oh shit oh shit....
I got out of the parking lot and could barely hear her breathing, so I pull over and try to wake her to tell her I'm taking her to the hospital. She's wheezing, but breathing. I run back to the driver side and haul ass back into traffic. I dial 911 and tell the dispatcher what's up, but instead of having someone waiting for me at Kennestone (Marietta), she tells me to pick a place and pull in somewhere close and wait for police/paramedics/fire dept.
So I'm sitting there on the phone with the dispatcher and keeping constant tabs on this unconscious girl.
And then she stops breathing entirely and I lose her pulse.
Oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck...
I tell the dispatcher that I'm going to start CPR and drop the phone. I get over to the passengers side, lift her out and lay her out in the bed of the truck. So here we are, out in the rain, in a cracker barrel parking lot, in the middle of Kennesaw, and I'm just pounding away at this poor girl, and not a single person comes up to help.
At about the third cycle of breathing/pumping she starts moaning and wheezing again and I sit her up. She's unable to speak, but she could nod and shake her head to respond to my questions. So we sat and waited for the EMT to arrive.

True story.
tanzen:
Wow, that's crazy... and also beautiful.
Thank you, for being a good person.
