One track and its accompanying video for today, that's all! From the monumental album ...Like Clockwork from 2013, I give you the (words to live by really) killer track "Smooth Sailing" and I hope you enjoy it! I've posted this before but it's been ages. I really love the entire album but yeah, this is one of the most "stand out" tracks on this album!...

Up next, one of the "vibe" tracks I mentioned! From the monumental and influential Brazilian band Sepultura, I give you "Kaiowas" off the 1993 album Chaos A. D. and it's such a great...

Here's another band from Dan and his lovely woman aka Handsome Furs!! They're fucking amazing and this beat and synth line is simple as fuck but SO DAMNED infectious and solid! I can't stress just how damn amazing this song is sonically and the video slaps too if you ask me! So! From the lover duo Handsome Furs, I give you the track "I'm Confused"...

I dig the sparseness and cold atmosphere of the first track.  Some very unique, novel harmonies both on tracks one and two.  I also like the choice of instrumentation on track two.  Takes the energy up a notch.  A bit of electroclash feel.  The minimalism works well.  Nice use of tension/dissonance.  I’m digging the modern bass drum.  Cool Kraftwerk vibe.  It’s complex without being “prog”.  You have crafted a very unique sound for yourself.  Track 3 takes it up another notch.  Almost a Nine Inch Nails atmosphere.  Very dystopian and menacing.  Would work well in a cyberpunk movie.  Reminds me of Martin Rev’s programming on Suicide’s American Supreme album (excellent record BTW).  You use space and rests really well—in a very effective way.  I’ve never heard music that does that quite like this.  The breaks in the action are “world-class”.  Very artful!  Track four continues with the wonderful cinematic stereo movement of sounds.  Definitely an industrial vibe, but very poetic.  More bleak than angsty.  This some cool shit!  Reminds me a bit of Vangelis music for Blade Runner.  I’d buy this 💯 “Mausoleum…” uses acoustic drums effectively.  Nice change of pace.  I’m loving the bass harmonics on this one.  And the sections of very-high crystal bell sounds.  Another artful track that wouldn’t be out of place on Kid A or something like that (I love that record).  Very modern sounds.  And you have your own voice.  Great grasp of rhythm with the drum programming.  Mellow, but engaging.  Could easily be on a Björk record like Vespertine (my favorite).  Very crisp, clear production.  “From the First Day…” has a sprinkling of Ministry or Butthole Surfers.  I dig it!  But still very earnest.  Even reminds me of Rollerskate Skinny.  Good shit!  Also cool that the voice really debuts on this track.  Effective move by keeping it mostly instrumental till that point.  Can also hear a bit of Flaming Lips in this.  Cool sampling!  Mom’s calling me for supper.  Keep up the great work, mate!!!
silentobjectorx:
@bob_dylan dude, thank you SO MUCH! Holy shit! Martin Rev and Suicide (I love American Supreme too!)?!  Then the gods known as Kraftwerk! NIN, Vangelis, Kid A by Radiohead (My favorite Radiohead album BTW!), Ministry and Butthole Surfers, Bjork and her bomb ass album Vespertine, Rollerskate Skinny and Flaming Lips?!  You honor me good sir!  I'm seriously in awe of the breakdown you've given!  Thank you again man!

@headshot indeed :)  Whether it's a big genre for someone or not, we all "go there" from time to time at the very least :)  <3
