does anyone know anything about dv camcorders?
i've had one for awhile. a nice one.
a few years ago i took it with me to niagra falls (maybe this was the problem?)
and i left it at my boyfriend's parents house for several months.
While he was gone he wanted me to send him some *ahem* pictures.(it does video and still photos)
so when i got the camera back it was acting funky.
the image would go all crazy like it was warped.
until it eventually went black.
i can still play the cassette in it...but only if it's plugged in. it won't turn on or anything without being plugged it. (maybe something is wrong with the battery too? there is a flashing red button that i'm pretty sure means that the battery isnt in...when it still is)
i don't have the money to send it off (estimate on website is almost $200...but could end up being more)...its been a few years since it fucked up.
it's such a shame to have such a nice thing (a nice thing that my boyfriend spent $700 on for me) stay fucked up. i really hate this because it was such an nice gift and i know he's not happy it's not working.

anyway..i haven't updated here in a while.
i'm going to the beach in a few weeks.
i'm crazy scared about walking around in a bikini

i'm going to a wedding with my boyfriend this weekend.
a wedding with an open bar. oh my. this is gonna be so much fun. drunk dancing =)

school has been going better than expected still sucks though.
i was supposed to read a book...i haven't.

i guess i should sleep

Well I think it's the battery. Go to some electronics store and ask if they have a new battery you can try. There are always camcorders on display and usually batteries work through a whole series of models. The more specialized a shop is (to your brand or to video) the better. You may end up just buying a battery for $50-$70 *if* it works.

You can also take the battery out. Look at the model number. Search for it on the web. And even get it very *cheap* on ebay. As a plan B.

Have fun at the wedding!!!

BTW: Did you leave the battery in the camcorder? That could be the reason. Especially the age of your camera shows that the battery is very breakable on low power. A long time storage procedure would be: load to 70% and store *outside* the camera. Rinse and repeat every 6 month. Now it's too geeky I know wink

No it doesen't really. I thought it would do everything when pluggeed in... could be either the recording device, or the ccd chip. did you try a different casette? that would be the easiest solution to the problem ...

However the battery is broken in any case frown
