Meditation Lesson #1
Tao gives birth to one
One gives birth to two
Two gives birth to three
Three gives birth to ten thousand things
Ten thousand things find harmony
by combining the forces of
positive and negative
A violent man shall die a violent death.
This will be the essence of the teaching.
In lines 4 and 5, "...ten thousand things" is the symbolic reference to all things in the cosmos.
Lines 5 and 6 refer to the Chinese principle of yin/yang (positive/negative).The yin is the negative principle, receptive, passive. The yang is the complement, positive, active and aggressive. Blending and harmony of these forces, all phenomena emerge. The yin and yang alternate, so that one is dominate while the other is recessive.
Here ends your lesson.
