as for kids pressuring zoos and other organizations not to euthanize animals, don't you be fooled--when i was a euthanizer at a shelter for 3 years, we told nearly everybody who turned in an animal that it would get adopted, even if it was broken beyond repair. we took it in the back room, and as soon as the humans were gone we disposed of it as we saw fit (which, of course, included putting many animals up for adoption, but we also euthanized a lot).
