We know regular German as well as our dialects. So we can talk to each other even when we're from comletely different regions and many dialect aren't as nasty as bavarian. I understand the Saxons very well, but if I really talk in the nastiest way of my bavarian dialect, which I don't even use at home , they won't get many words. German isn't that complicated and the most dialects aren't that hard.
