the past weekend was prospectives weekend...

that's the weekend when many of the folks who may come to school here next year visit. i'm part of the social events planning committee - so i spent the last week meeting folks, cooking, attending dinners and parties, buying liquor, and setting up events. being charming and honest at the same time is *exhausting.*

school is kicking my ass. i've been reading livy's The Rise of Rome. it's pretty interesting stuff. the ongoing tension between the plebians and patricians is pretty interesting, as well as the reliance on war to provide internal social stability. liberty requires equality. there ya go.
