That last journal was a downer. I'm over it.

I've watched a lot of movies lately, including:

1. Ong Bak 2 - The first hour was a snore. But the last 35-40 minutes is one non-stop fight, and many knees are delivered soundly to the heads of douchebags. Also: an elephant is used as a critical prop in the middle of the fight scene. This movie has no real sense of logic, but I still loved it.

2. Master and Commander - This was pretty great. I'm a big fan of movies like this. It's hard to describe exactly what a movie like "this" is - because it's not as specific as being a navy movie, or a historical piece, or even a war movie. I just like mid-sized movies that are sort of quiet, work on ensemble casts, and are just *well done.* It's solid, but not flashy. I dig that.

3. Forrest Gump - This was on non-stop on cable this weekend, and I watched it. A lot about this movie annoys me. It's self-righteous, it's misogynist, it's annoying apolitical - except when it gives a nice little reach around to good old conservatism. But there are at least three beautiful scenes:

a. Forrest and Jenny praying for her to turn to a bird in a corn field when birds suddenly fly away

b. Lt. Dan in a bar on New Years Eve, sitting in his wheelchair, so his head at the height of the bar, scowling and his hair covered in confetti.

c. Forrest and Jenny embracing in the Washing Monument Reflecting Pool.

All three are pretty pandering, so they're not GREAT - but they still make me ache a little.

4. The Rocky Horror Picture Show - Everything about this is perfect.

5. Office Space - Also perfect.

6. Accepted - Why do I watch this when it's on? I've never even sat through the whole thing. It's totally derivative and flat. Lewis Black is kinda funny, maybe that's why? Also: I kind of like Justin Long, but his schtick is a little thin sometimes.

I've got head, face, and "other" covered, but in no great quantity...yet.
