For the first time ever last night, my wife and I did the "tasting menu" thing at a restaurant. We hit up Topolobampo and it was delicious as usual.
Outside of being hella expensive, the whole tasting menu approach was actually really fun and cool. The one downside was that, because we had a late reservation and the plates are small, it was hard to ENJOY the food at first. While I wasn't wolfing it down, I was definitely conscious, early in the meal, of 1) being hungry and 2) that these small plates were not FILLING ME UP.
But yeah, I'm glad we did it.

I like how, as my wife pointed out, Hurley has simply become the voice of truth, nothing more, nothing less. Everything he says is straight truth.
Tasting menus are the shit, and totally worth the money. Especially if there is a wine pairing option as well.
