Sort of a fantastic, dizzy kind of weekend....
On Saturday, we saw Kathy Griffin at the Chicago Theater - who I ah-dore! Also, crazily, as we were waiting for the Metra that evening: we saw a fucking *coyote* hauling ass up the tracks. Surreal.
Today, we went to the movies and checked out The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Truly fantastic. I heart watching Brad Pitt do about anything, and Casey Affleck is wonderfully creepy. It's just a slow, meandering piece of awesome.
To cap it all, on Friday and Saturday I started digging into some articles on interstate competition. I found some great stuff that bolstered my case, while also letting me carve out a smaller, more specific place that I fit in. It was reassuring and encouraging.
It was a big win on the whole.

I'm pretty deep in the city, so even when there are fires nearby they get put out quickly. The Griffith Park fires were much closer to me (only a few miles). The thing I'm mainly worried about is my home town. High desert mixed with wooden homes makes for a virtual tinderbox.
