OK. I'm going to try this update again, and see if my browser won't crash this time.

So, I'm wrapping up my visit at home. It was a good visit - hung out with family, helped make enchiladas. I roll a mean enchilada by the way. I also got my grandmother's recipe, so I'm going to tackle my own batch of delicious, delicious potato filled goodness soon.

One thing that always kills me about coming home is that my mom is *constantly* giving me stuff: food to take home, or she takes me shopping, or she even slips me money. I mean, first off, I totally appreciate the help. It does make me feel a bit childish, but I'm a poor grad student and a little help is always appreciated. But *at the same time,* my wife and I aren't that poor. We can afford *pants.* I know my mom does it because she wants to help, and she's a good lady. But it always leaves me feeling.... sorta... weird? I dunno. I'm just weird in general I think.

Also: My sister's cat totally hates my guts. But I find him totally adorable. It's a vicious fucking circle, man.

But tomorrow I head home. I miss my apartment and my city. It'll be good to see the wife again (if you know what I mean).

Finally: Dear God, I hate PowerPoint and all it stands for.

Ah, you have the curse of the "science" moniker hanging about your neck. Read my latest blog for my anticipated departure from PhD-land, but I'd like to take the opportunity to say to you that "We can afford *pants.*" is one of the greatest sentences I've had the pleasure to read ....

Yeah, that little balancing act is sort of interesting. I like to think we get equal support from both sets of parents, just in different ways.
