As I explained to one of my colleagues: "The thing about being married is that, while you don't get to have fun anymore, you DO get to buy kitchen appliances."

To which she responded: "I'm not sure I followed that whole bit, all I got was 'being married means not being allowed to have fun anymore.'"



But, things really *are* exciting on the kitchen appliance front. Last weekend, we used our Macy's gift card to subsidize a purchase of a waffle maker *and* an ice cream maker. And you know what that means: everyone is invited to our *waffle and ice cream party*!!!!!111!!!1

We made waffles last weekend, and they were pretty good. The recipe we used was a bit on the bland side, so in the future we need to try something different. Last night, we tossed together our first batch of ice cream. We didn't do anything crazy - just a pretty straight forward vanilla. But it was aaaaaaaaaaahmazing. Like, "I want to make sweet, sweet love to this creamy, white dairy product" good.

On March 7th - I'm off to Vegas for a "conference." No. Seriously. I'm presenting a paper on the role of subnational units in the promotion in central state building. In Vegas.
