I come to you with my hat in my hands, and my eyes down low.

There was a time, not that long ago, when I did not like the Flaming Lips.

Indeed: I am for sucks.

I just never *got* them. Then we saw them at Lollapalooza, and they were *easily* one of the coolest live bands I've ever seen. So, I've started picking up their stuff. I started with At War With the Mystics. I guess I'm going backwards. Anyway, I love it.

My wife is "out of town" this weekend. I put that in quotations because she's actually in the city. But her mom, sister, and her "sister's stupid boyfriend" (*that's* in quotations because it's a direct quote from my wife) are in town. They stay in a hotel downtown, and my wife stays with them to make all their activities (re: shopping and eating at P.F. Chang's, with which they are obsessed) a little easier on her. They stayed at our apartment all of once. Never again. It was fucking *obnoxious* and I wasn't having it again. I'm a prick like that. Of course, any of you are welcome any time. Unless you're teenage girls that fight and screech all the time. Then: No dice. I generally stay out of the festivities. They really are just here to shop, so what the hell am I going to do? I hide behind "work." I'm a coward and a cheat.

But I'm not sure what *I'm* doing this weekend. They're showing all of the "Vengeance" films this afternoon at the Gene Siskel Film Center. But that's like 8 hours of creepy stylized Korean violence. I'm not sure I can handle that. I am know I'm buying the new Bob Dylan CD at some point.

That's all she wrote folks.

I completely agree, but I also think it's interesting because the political is seemingly subverted by the economic.

Also, I didn't write that...
