I don't like to write about music, because I don't really know anything about it ... But I just need to say: I love Tom Petty. I understand that Tom Petty is not a musical innovator, and that he has an almost frigthently consistent sound from song to song/album to album. But I don't care. I think he's too good to be a guilty pleasure, but too narrow to be considered a "great" .... He's more like musical comfort food. You know what you're getting, and it's done really well. I'm sure that says something about me.
Also - Wilco is an amazing band except when it tries really hard to be a great band. Does that make sense? I've been listening to A Ghost is Born lately, and I dig it. Really. But all that studio noodling? Snooze. I'm sure that ALSO says something about me.
Finally - there's a really cute girl who works at the coffee shop that I like to flirt with. Shhh.

Careful about flirting with the girl at the coffeeshop. Your wife is cool!
Pump Audio is a music placement service where they market your music and you split the returns 50/50. It's all non-exclusive, so it's a good way for an unkown artist to get some income on material they've already recorded. It's mainly for TV and film. My drummer said he got a check out of the blue for $250. They used one of his other band's songs for a cue on a Discover channel show.
& a little flirting is good for the soul. Even if she's playing you for tips.
