So, hey, thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. Appreciated. biggrin

It was a pretty lowkey birthday this year, being a Wednesday and all. My wife got me a memory chip for my Powerbook, which I'm way too excited about. Got some cash from my parent's, and a few CDs for the in-laws. Nice things that I wanted, nothing that I needed, making it a successful birthday. wink

Otherwise, things are good. I went home over the weekend. Saw my family. Saw a friend and his wife - got to see their new baby and house. It's wild to have friends having babies and buying houses. Man. I also caught up with an old friend I'd not seen since *high school* over the weekend...

Sometimes it's a little hard to believe that I'm 27, by the way. It's a little weird to be almost 30, still in school, to have no money, and to own nothing. I don't feel that old (Eric, my advisor, claims that "27 is not even close to 30" - I chose to not challenge his math). However, this does underscore my need to, like, get a job sometime soon. wink

So, yea. That's all. Things are good. Maybe I'll have a real update at some future point. smile

Some one-dimensional observations for you:

In '04, freaking a state like Oregon outlawed gay marriage. This year, Brokeback Mountain leads the Oscar noms.

At Sundance, there was a film blasting Starbucks' using beans from Africa (where conditions are cruel). Starbucks was a sponsor of Sundance.
