This is one of those fantastic weekends, you know? Friday was just a nice evening of relaxing. On Saturday, the wife and I cleaned the apartment - and it seriously needed it. That afternoon we bundled up, and took the train out to the suburbs. We went out to have dinner with my old college roommate and his parents, who are the sweetest people. His mom makes killer pork chops, and a nice chocolate pie. Eating good is always good.
Yesterday, we headed off to do some shopping, and checked out Match Point. It's a *really* great film, and later in the week I'll toss up some thoughts about it. Then we came home, and chilled out in the front of the tube.
The wife and I both had today off for Martin Luther King Day. So, we went out for pancakes and spent most of the day watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer on DVD. It's been super-fun! (Bonus points if you know what Buffy ep that references.)
The own downer on the weekend is my ongoing battle with UPS. Generally, UPS has been good to me in the past, but they're being real bastard lately. Basically, I was expecting a delivery on January 6th, but was not home to receive it (it's a retro silver Christmas tree; purchased for half-off!). I reschedule a delivery for later in the next week, only it never showed up. So I had to reschedule another later delivery... and it didn't show up again. The latest story is that the package was returned to sender becasue UPS made three "failed to deliver" attempts. It's really a big cluster-fuck and I'm really annoyed. I'm pretty easy going, but I had to be pissy and do things like say "I need to talk to someone else. I need your supervisor." I've NEVER done that. But I dunno where the fuck my Christmas tree is now ... we shall see.
