The long and short of it is: I'm not going anywhere. The real question is: Do I keep moving up the ladder, making a stink to the Dean and anyone else who will listen?
I have a sinking feeling that won't get me anywhere. We used to not have our health insurance paid here (to note, our competitor Ivy League schools do pay for health insurance for their grad students). People raised a fuss, and after over a year of agitating - health insurance was won. For new incoming students. That's right: the folks who raised the issue had "already signed awards contracts" and therefore would still have to pay for their own insurance.
With this kind of track record, my odds aren't good. And I get it. I understand the importance of contracts. It just makes me feel warm to know that my university cares so much....
Otherwise, life is OK. Finished the first draft of the first part of my proposal. Today, I'm doing some work for a professor. That's about it.

True. I realized after I wrote that that most private institutions are run as corporations. All the more reason to not go to school.

thats lame .. its amazing how bad grad students get treated .. the prof. school students have to pay full rate usually
