I kinda dig it.

Heh, see? We all have our foibles. I just only need one social networking site in my life. Myspace runs worse than SG and I've just plain stayed away from Facebook. It's not like there's a huge reason I've stayed away from all the kind of people you can find or be found by on those sites, it's just that my life has been fine without it. *shrug*

A hypothesis: Johnny Depp is the great wasted talent of his generation. Seriously, is anyone else tired of seeing this guy play so many cartoon characters?

A second hypothesis: Tim Burton needs to find a new fucking schtick. His Hot-Topic-goth-weirdo thing is getting really old.

That just means you'll be super-good at it when your time has come.

I've always acted as a foil for those that tend to find fault with current media in most of it's forms. Except for music. You can rip on most modern music all you want. I don't give a shit. wink
ckdexterhaven:
Yep, I haven't seen it in a while either. I guess it deserves a second chance. I mean, Estella Warren is in it. Can't be all bad. At least from a visual standpoint, anyways.

Some days, I just spend the whole morning scribbling notes in my notebook. Now, I'm not *taking* notes - I'm building decision tress and 2x2 squares (seriously: every good social science theory is really just a 2x2 square, no joke). I still can't decide if this "thinking" legitimately counts as work - or just as fucking around.

Structurally, it's more years of study after the degree and presumably after working in the profession for a least a few years. My understanding is that you just don't go straight through and get your degree. The LLM is two years, and the SJD is additional undetermined time. But basically it's the core JD plus, and I'm assuming more theoretical abstract study which is the type of stuff I tend to enjoy. I tend to find the practical mundane. Hmm, maybe I shouldn't be trying to get into law school?!?
toothpickmoe:
That's what I'm talking about. Two jobs on the same day? Crazy-times for me. Does not compute. Yet another reason to not have a child? Like I needed that.

To XBOX 360 or not? That is the question of the week.

I played FFVII game for days on end. If there was an easy, non-techy way to get it and Ultima VII on my PC I'd never leave the house.

Thank you very muck, I appreciate it!

So first, when I was in high school, I wanted to have so much of teh sex with Shirley Manson. I just need to...

My hand actually hurts from editing right now. I hate editing with a strong, deadly passion. Does anyone actually *enjoy* editing? I tried to convince E that since academics write so badly, we should just give up on it and instead do everything with bullet points. It's my new campaign.

But editing is sort of satisfying: E had some really devastating but quality comments on...

Interesting. I went to a friends in the physic's department (ok, aerospace? something like that...) and there were only three of us there besides the committee. In my dept. they're pretty big. Most faculty try to attend, I believe.

I've been in for 6.5 years. I'd been shooting for 5 or so, but it just crept up! Anyway, that's perfectly normal in my department, but they'd like to bring it down a bit.
toothpickmoe:
Yup. We're all hopelessly devoted.

Dissertating summed up in one sentence:

One step forward, half a step back and another sideways.

In other news, I had a fucking cold. I think I got it beat.

This weekend: Museums!

Sort of a fantastic, dizzy kind of weekend....

On Saturday, we saw Kathy Griffin at the Chicago Theater - who I ah-dore! Also, crazily, as we were waiting for the Metra that evening: we saw a fucking *coyote* hauling ass up the tracks. Surreal.

Today, we went to the movies and checked out The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford. Truly...

Generally there is flying involved when I go up there. I've done the drive once and it just wasn't for me.

I'm pretty deep in the city, so even when there are fires nearby they get put out quickly. The Griffith Park fires were much closer to me (only a few miles). The thing I'm mainly worried about is my home town. High desert mixed with wooden homes makes for a virtual tinderbox.

I'm glad too! smile
