I read an article a couple of years ago about "Functional Alcoholism" & I'm pretty sure I totally have that. I drink a lot, but it hasn't yet taken over my life.

Basically, I'm a drunk, but it doesn't/hasn't affected my everyday life yet. I wouldn't say I'm a complete drunk cuz I don't drink every day, or even every other day for that matter. I rarely drink during the week & if I do it's very moderate. I haven't showed up to work hungover in about 8 months? The problem is that I am alone a lot, especially on the weekends, & I get bored. When I get bored I get drunk. For example, right now I'm on my 3rd Beam & Coke & it's 3:30pm. I decided to start drinking cuz I know that no one is going to call tonight & I need something to kill the time. It's a horrible reason to drink, but what the fuck else am I supposed to do? I could go out, but I'd end up spending $$$ & I really shouldn't do that. I suppose I could do something productive, but I don't really want to. I work all week & like to just relax & sit around on the weekend. Plus, what can I do? I could clean my apartment or do laundry, but then what would I do tomorrow? Drink? Then I'd be hungover on Monday & that's a shitty way to start a week.

I guess I'm just too bored all of the time. I read & listen to music & watch tv & jerk off, but you can only do these things for so long (especially jerk off). I either have to find something else to fill up my time, or I know I'm going to end an alcoholic...
