So, I was just informed by my sister that First Avenue has closed indefinitely due to bankruptcy of the owner. From what I've read, there are plans in place for the former managers Steve McCellan (sp?) & the other guy whose name I can't remember to reopen it. All the shows are in the process of being moved to new venues.
Guh, this fucking sucks. I'm trying to stay optimistic & hoping that the club will reopen very shortly, but it's difficult. That place is so important to music & to the city of Minneapolis. I've spent so much time there & seen so many amazing bands & met so many amazing people. It is such an important landmark & hole will be left until the club returns.
