Urgh... I CAN'T sleep past 8am anymore. Really frickin annoying since I was up till 2am, & now will have to take a damn nap in a couple of hours.
Had three shows last week: Wed-Mike Doughty, Thurs-Wolf Parade, Fri-Rob Skoro. The Doughty show was great, per usual, but the crowd sucked. Too many drunken frat-boy idiots. The guy standing next to me actually had his back to the stage for about 1/2 of Mike's set. WTF? Why pay decent money to not even watch the band? Why not just get a case of beer & stay home & listen to the CD? It just sux cuz the more popular a musician gets, the more broad the fan base tends to be, & that's where the idiots come in.
Wolf Parade was very good. They played some stuff I hadn't heard before, but also hit most of the high points of their debut CD. Plus, we got there early, so we had a place to sit at the Entry. BONUS!
Rob Skoro was also good, but had some idiots there too. Aparently they were friends of his cuz he gave them hugs after the show. They didn't even watch. One guy was on his cell the whole time (I know this cuz he stood right in front of me), & the other ones were just talking. If I was in a band & my friends came & just talked through the whole set, I'd be pissed. I'd be like, "Don't show up if you're not gonna at least watch."
Got a couple others coming up: The Decemberists, Ben Folds, BSScene, Soul Asylum, Hold Steady / Constantines... that last one is gonna be really good. Also heard that Thunderbirds Are Now! are opening, & they're supposed to be decent.
That's about all I got. Busy busy, boring boring. Spent waaaay too much money & booze & food this week. Get a free meal from the rents today, so that'll help. Prolly going bowling tonight, fun fun fun.
