once a week me and some friends beat at each other with sticks in mock swordplay. Sorta goofy, sure, but fun and momma didn't rase her boy to care too much about appearances. The important thing, is that it's fun and it involves pain. What more, other than a few unmentionable attentions, could a relativistically young man want. OK ok so I want the island of Tahiti, so what. Today was the aforementioned day, and a good one, though one guy couldn't make it (bummin) the rest of us all now have neat-o strips of red welting up and down our arms. Tis great as they say...
I'm also trying another, "eat very little meat" experiment, and have yet to have a terminal failure of discipline. Now that I've stated that, I'll probably eat a half a dozen bacon cheeseburgers tomorrow, but the future is a many varied realm of pure possibility.
Yesterday At the MegaStore i slide into a lane after filling my bachelor sized basket with goodies, only to realize a old friend from highschool-land was standing 3 feet in front of me. I smiled at him, after some deliberation and file rummaging, and it only took him two passes before he recognized me. He's now a missionary in Kenya. I smiled, none surprised, and we chatted for a moment, precious and fleeting. He reminded me, on a salient level what is was like to be me then. Good or Bad neither here nor there, but a surprising reflection. And those are always welcome, even when they suck the life from me and leave a husk of a soul wrapped in the decaying sniveling mass of blood and bone, membrane and viscera. Which is I suppose not too bad, given the circumstances. other than that i sorta miss all...half...some...a couple of my old christian friends. sometimes.
Essentially, I'm just blithing away a selfish, self centered journal entry, to avoid the trappings spilling too much value in the content, Cuz then what would happen.....

Mock swordfighting eh? Is it anything to do with kendo or not quite so structured? Whatever, sounds cool, or should I say 'neat-o'?
I tell you, every time I read your journal I just sit here agog and grinning (
Reminds me of a line from David Mamet's film State and Main:
guy: sounds like you had to make your own fun back then.
girl: you always make your own fun. Otherwise it's not fun, it's entertainment.
You rock.
