In a couple of weeks I've got a wedding to go to, one of the Phd survivors who actually passed their Phd is getting married in Cambridge, of all places. Well, it's hardly a surprise since she went to university there. So I'll get the twin pleasures of seeing her all happy and perhaps seeing my old college too.

The only possible downer is that I'm going with my ex, who quite possibly still hates my guts. We got the invite while we were still going out and my ex didn't want to take anyone else. I've booked her accomodation in my old college and I'll make sure she's ok on the night and leave early if I have to, just don't want her getting bummed out because of me, I think I've caused her enough pain already.

Zoiks, this is turning into an open heart confessional. Can't do that, not with my regression to base manliness.

On a positive side, for me at least, I was in Leeds over the weekend. One of the genius things that happened was that I took my suit home to get dry cleaned in preparation for the wedding. Went to the Next Clearence Shop and found a great suit and waistcoat for 10 total biggrin Genius! Cheaper than getting the old one cleaned...

As well as that, went out with my friend Che to the usual haunts, got drunk on ridiculously strong beer and ate pie and peas at North Bar, smoked a nice cigar from Greens tobacconist, went to the market and bought my workmates some cheapo sweets (blackjacks, 20 packs for 1!). The Portuguese cafe in the market wasn't open, I was hoping to get some Fejouada, but it wasn't to be.

My parents were on top form, they've been making god knows how much fruit wine and sloe gin from stuff they've grown. Even managed to snaffle a bottle of the sloe gin, they bottled it in an antique bottle so it looks like proper pirate grog and everything smile

OK, the next post will be more surreal, I promise :p

I got a wedding invite this week. All I could think was "great now I need to find a date. And shoes. In that order." ^_^

One would assume that I could solve the 2 problems at the same time, but things never seem to work out the way we would want them to. Oh well.

You totally should listen to it!!! I'm listening to it right now! It's so good, especially "Dublin Waltz", "Anchor and Hope" (ocean state love, what?!), and "Metropolis". The last was one of my favorite songs and this new version rendered me utterly speechless.

I'm still cooking, I've just been very lazy with the food blog. Hmm I made veggie french bread pizza tonight . . .

Take a small (preferably stale) baguette (12" oor 30 centimeters) cut it in half and hollow it out.

Roast 2 peppers (I like yellow and orange), following that roast one small to medium zuchinni and red onion pieces. chop everything up and mix with chopped fresh tomatoes one clove of garlic, a small bit of lemon juice & olive oil, fresh thyme and oregano (or dried) and salt and pepper.

Grate a bit of parmegiano and sprinkle it onto the french bread halves and then fill with the veggie mix. Top with mozzerella cheese and bake in the oven until the cheese is melted and the bread is a bit crusty.

ps glad I could help with the lady wink
