Well, rejected by the University of Illinois. I probably wouldn't have gone anyway, but it would have been encouraging to have been accepted; I could have expected similar letters from the schools I do want to go to. I can still expect similar letters. I just won't like them very much.

Wow. It really sounds as though she needs to get something out of her system before she can move on to another serious relationship, although if she feels the same way about you as you obviously do about her, then her previous relationship shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I'm glad you spent an evening in a fresh situation and having a good time in good company smile I know it's easy for me to say, but maybe you need to step back from the situation with MathGirl and focus on other important things in your life. Put her on the back burner for a while.

would you be so kind as to tell me some of these movies, apart from Johnny Mnemonic? I guess The Matrix pretty much, but then again, that rather ripped off the entire book, don't you think? Molly's hot.

If given the technology, and the chance, would I choose to create a personality construct of myself? Would it be a means for me to outlive my mortal shell? Or would it be a crude mockery of the person that I am?

i think by definition a personality construct of a real person can only be a crude mockery. real humans are just too complex and unpredictable. even the predictable ones.

HAH! biggrin Well the differences in lifestyle and attitudes etc over here aren't as extreme as they seem to be over in your country!

There are odd balls all over the place. But there are many beautiful, serene, picturesque villages and towns all over Britain, with lovely hospitable and generous people living in them.

But of course, there are the grotty parts full of arseholes who's main goals in life are either to win the lottery, and/or trying to find ways to increase the benefits they receive from the taxpayers, one of which is to have several children. More children = more money apparently.

Anyway, it's high time I got some beauty sleep. It's way past my bed time! I might turn into a pumpkin if I stay up much longer.

(PS, I love these words because my Algebra lecturer has used them in the past, and when some numbnut asked him what the words meant, he gave a sarcastic response and then went into a talk about how this was a course on Algebra and not English Literature and that maybe there were some people in the wrong lecture theatre. love )

This term my modules are:

Algebra IV: Groups & Rings
Probability & Statistics
Linear Programming & Optimisation
(and a unit in French cos I'm studying for a degree in Maths with Modern Languages)

The algebra is difficult, but exhilarating, and it's made all the more worthwhile by the sarcasm and attitude of the lecturer.

School is good. I was fortunate enough to be able to save up enough money to leave work and study full time. I plan on doing it again at some point later on in my life, but maybe not as a full time student.
