Here's the product of part of my afternoon. The part when I should have been doing the company's work, but was really working on my own projects.
Always give all the heart, for love
Will hardly seem worth thinking of
To passionate women if it seem
Uncertain, because they dream
That it fades out from kiss to kiss;
But everything worth loving is
Really a glorious delight.
O always give the heart outright,
For they, unlike the poets say,
Will give their hearts up when they may.
Who could embrace this well enough
If not madly driven by love?
He that made this knows how it's done,
For he gave all his heart and won.
This is a parody of Yeats' "Never Give All the Heart."
Never give all the heart, for love
Will hardly seem worth thinking of
To passionate women if it seem
Certain, and they never dream
That it fades out from kiss to kiss;
For everything that's lovely is
But a brief, dreamy, kind delight.
O never give the heart outright.
For they, for all smooth lips can say,
Have given their hearts up to the play.
And who could play it well enough
If deaf and dumb and blind with love?
He that made this knows all the cost,
For he gave all his heart and lost.
I also have a parody of Elizabeth Barret Browning's "Sonnet 43 - How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count the Ways."
How do I love thee? I neednt count the ways.
I love thee in the only way I know,
And its searing fire ravages me now
As thoughts of you consume my restless days.
I love thee as though the unbridled fray
Crashes over me like waves on the prow
Of a storm-tossed ship. It beats on my brow
With savagery no poet could portray.
I love thee with a fervor I almost fear,
For now I know I cant live without it,
Yet when I embrace it and hold in near
I know its power will never permit
Me to give up on you. I must persevere.
Geez, poets are such hacks. I have to stop writing this crap.
I must also stop listening to Hank Williams. It can't help. Fucking suicide music.

No, you're right. But I think the difference is that there are some people we choose to be responsible for, and those people are okay with me. If I have decided I want someone in my life, then they're there for good. It's the people who just decide that they're in your life without your consent who really bother me.
