I finally got my car washed yesterday! I swore that I would, and I did. And the waxing and everything only took me three hours. I made sure to take pictures before some bird comes along and craps on it.

Have to bring it in for maintenance in a little bit. Being an auto owner can be such a pain.

The word "update" below should be in bold font, but for some reason it refused to work, no matter how many times I check to make sure it's coded correctly! mad

UPDATE: The dealership has decided to violate me. Stupid auto expenses. But I suppose it must be done, if I want my car to live into old age. While my car is in I'm driving my mother's. I hate driving an automatic transmission!

I'm still trying to wake up. Four hours of sleep, yay!

I'm probably a bit incoherent. I had something planned for today's journal, but now I don't remember what.

Oh - last night I found that the type of fiction I've been reading for years actually has a name. So today I am going to promote absurdist fiction.

Absurdist Fiction, an extreme branch of satire, is a form of fiction or poetry that utilizes absurd characters, situations or subjects to promote thoughtful laughter. Thoughtful laughter is the main literary aim of absurdist fiction; it is designed to make its audience laugh and consider serious issues simultaneously. The outlandish style and plot of much absurdist fiction and poetry is more memorable and tends to impact the reader more greatly than regular fiction.

I urge you all to go out and read some Christopher Moore - I highly recommend Practical Demonkeeping, Bloodsucking Fiends, and Lamb. C.D. Payne is also a pretty good author.

UPDATE: I've just been reminded of Heller's Catch-22, a book which I love dearly. I wonder if it would be considered to precursor to absurdist fiction. It seems to have the required elements. I will think more on this while re-reading it.

And after all my struggles with the bold font of that first "update" it now works! Fuck you, HTML. Fuck you. biggrin
