I've decided that too many of my journal entries are negative. I feel that's only natural, since I have this nihilism thing going - I don't call it depression; my sadness has very specific causes, and I know what they are.

Anyway, from this point forward I'm going to make an attempt to write at least one positive thing in every journal entry.

So this Saturday I'm having my graduation party! Well, my sister and I are having a party, as she's graduating HS too. It should be exciting. And I'm sure there'll be monetary gifts, which are always good. I'm not greedy, but I'm feeling rather broke right now.

I have this habit of only posting comments on the boards and in journals when I feel I have something interesting and worthwhile to write. I'm afraid this may be a waste of effort on my part. Sometimes I think I should just turn Xavier (this is the name I decided on for my alter-ego) loose, and go wild.

I'd rather make friends with people here though, I guess. So lonely...

wow! i have a parallel experience with you.

in may of 2000 my brother graduated from high school and i graduated from college. same time. instead of having a graduation party, we took a road trip. we drove up from Fresno, California all the way to the Olympic National Forest in Washington state. it's the only temperate rainforest in the U.S. so beautiful.

i have read Snow Crash, it was my introduction to Stephenson and i loved it! i'm on page 315 of 1056 or something like that in Cryptonomicon. so good, but so long!

i am also more than half way through with The Power of Myth and i swear, every page has something amazing that i want to talk about. did you see my Joseph Campbell journal entries a couple days back? they were right before the Car Show entry last week. he's so fuckin' cool.

for some reason i think Phillip Larkin taught at Fresno State (my alma mater). am i crazy?

so there! i've traded you long comments!

Sort of similar, but it's more like you've just never seen them before at all, and you think, what are you doing next to me? or, how did you get into that picture on my wall?

Being excited about something is exciting. You're giddy all the time and it makes you want to jump up and down and you can't stay asleep in the morning. I know how you feel though, it's been a long time for me, too.

I have been told that having a degree of any kind helps you get a job of any kind, but I don't know how true that is, really. What jobs really do have to do with math, anyway,
