Since I had nothing better to do with my evening, I went to the doctor to have my ear looked at. It turns out I don't have an ear infection. He didn't know what's causing the pain, but it is definitely not an ear infection.
So that's good, I guess. At least I won't have an untreated infection that turns into mastoiditis which leads to...

My ear hurts. I think I might have otitis externa. An external ear infection. Swimmer's ear, if you will. I don't recall swimming lately, but who knows? Anyway, it feels like there's something in my ear pressing on my eardrum, and I think it's spread to the tissue around my TMJ; my jaw is killing me too.

Twas the corset I was speaking of. The lady is quite cute. But it is the corset I adore.
The interview was, yes was, with a big oil company (I clean their messes). I just got the e-mail that said I didn't make the cut. All the stress and nothing to show for it.

It's Friday night, and I expect it to be another slow one. I know all you exciting, interesting people I usually talk to are off doing exciting, interesting things.
Nevertheless, I had something I wanted to write about. Now I can't remember what it was!
Crickets and spiders...no, I wrote about those.
Oh yes...cycling and exercise.
I'm exercising now. You may recall my complaint about...

The anxiety level is high today. For some reason, she popped into my head. The very thought of her makes me physically ill.
There seem to be more field crickets than usual this year. They're quite loud; one has taken up residence in my garage, and if a cricket's chirp is an indication of its fitness to pass on its genetic material, this cricket must...

See, I love the sound of crickets. I walk past fields filled with them so I can listen.
Anxiety. One of the many states of being that is painful.

Well, I have no need to show off, since you seem to know just as much about Satanism as I do... namely that it really doesn't involve worship of Satan, as a personal being and that Satanism is really not about evil.
I haven't studied many fringe religions.... though my favorite areas of study are the time periods when religions are developing, trying to figure out their identity, interacting with surrounding religions.... such as Jesus' time and the 300 years thereafter, or the split between the Northern and Southern kingdoms of ancient Israel when the book of Deuteronomy was purportedly written.
I also love reading ( in translation) religious texts from the Ancient Near East, of the Egyptians, the Babylonians, etc.
I'm taking my Comprehensive Exams ( to finish my M.A.) in a month and am nervously reviewing the past few years of learning...

Call me a child if you will, but I think peanut butter and jelly sandwiches may be one of man's greatest inventions. At least as far as food goes. They contain grains, fruit, and protein. Add a glass of milk, and you've hit the major food groups. Add to that the fact that they don't need to be refrigerated. And they're tasty.

Where is everyone today? I've gotten used to getting comments. Some days I've had over five. It's a record.
The life of a recluse can be very dull at times.
I went for my walk today and it rained on me. It rained hard for all of two minutes; just enough to soak me fairly well. I found it amusing, however.

PS - my dog is a pansy. The only thing she considers "the enemy" is the cats. People? She just bounces around and licks their faces off. I'm hoping her ferocity will improve once she's over the kennel cough.
claudette:
You're right about that - the dog is spoiled to the max. And hyper!!! She was so sick when I got her that she just slept half the day and night. Now that she has a few days of antibiotics in her she's been tearing around like armageddon is upon us. I'll get a video of her and her tennis balls once I get a camera again. It's too funny.
BUY A BANANA TREE. It keeps them from going bad as quickly. If you're going to be eating those horrible things, at least keep them fresh.

I just found out Neal Stephenson has a new book, Anathem, coming out in a couple of weeks. I'm excited. Finally, something to read that will probably be excellent!
Yes, I'm a big fan of Stephenson. Snow Crash, Cryptonomicon, The Diamond Age, the three books of the Baroque Cycle. The endings are notoriously unsatisfying, but the stories are otherwise fantastic....

I discovered that if I took a few more classes, I could apply to veterinary school. Or probably medical school, for that matter. However, the fact that I don't give a damn about people--and in fact am outright hostile toward them--most likely disqualifies me from medical school.
Do veterinarians have to care about people?
Being a veterinarian isn't mathematics or research, but at least it...

It is super hard to get into vet school, you have to be a pure genius. Which obviously you are, right?

I thought I may have been stung by a bee.
I was out riding my bicycle in the park and something flew into my mouth, then there was a stinging sensation on my tongue. I hurriedly spit out whatever it was.
However, now I don't think it was a bee. Upon reflection, I think it was too small. And my tongue isn't swollen. I swell...

I'm frightfully bored. I demand you entertain me! Talk to me about what books you're reading, what television shows you're watching. Talk to me about politics or religion or science. Just make sure to say something interesting.

I went to the Science Museum yesterday and saw the Star Wars exhibit. It was pretty good. A mix of movie memorabilia and explanations of current technologies that resemble those in the movies. Robotics, prosthetics, mag lev trains. Some cool stuff.

That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age.
