oopsie.

since there are so many of you using aol instant messenger i thought i better post this. there's a worm out there called IM.Myspace04.AIM that will chat with you, that's right carry on a conversation, in order to trick you into clicking on a link it will provide. the link will point to a url containing the malicious file "clarissa17.pif."

typically what happens is the aol user is IMed with the message "lol that's cool" followed by the malicious url. when the unsuspecting user responds with a question about the file the virus will respond with "lol no it's not a virus."

of course once an AIM user has clicked on the supplied link all sorts of nastiness occurs. such as disabling security software, installing a backdoor and tweaking system files. then it starts sending itself to contacts on the victim's buddy list in such a way that you don't know it's doing it.


so...if you are an AIM user beware this trojan. nasty stuff
