I need to put a condo on the market, file a tax extension, and make an Easter brunch.

I don't know how to do any of these things.

I miss the sense of wonder, of everything being the first time. The first time you smoke a cigarette or do drugs, or drink, the first time you have sex. The first time you stay up all night with your best friend talking about the universe. The first time your parents really disappoint you, that you learn to think of them as failable humans. The first time you drive. The first time you smoke pot with all your friends looking at you because you're probably inhaling wrong and everyone laughing when you say you don't feel anything and then start giggling uncontrollably on the playground in Cherry Hill at four am, waiting for the cops to roll up.

I miss all that stuff.

I don't miss not getting. Missing stuff, not being smart/experienced enough to always keep myself safe. I don't miss not knowing what I had until after it was gone. Not even a bit.

How the hell are you, dear?

Didn't you recently celebrate a birthday that I forgot to wish you well on?
