Apparently I haven't had anything very interesting to say lately. Things have sort of resolved themselves at work, but I also applied to Northern Arizona University so I can start taking some online classes and when I've maxed that out, we'll move to Flagstaff and both my husband and I will go to school full time and just... be happy little hipster liberals in Flag.

Oh, and my sister and I have been talking about the idea of opening a bookstore. It's always been a little dream of mine and I mentioned it and she was really into the idea and said it was something she'd thought about in the past, too. We want something small with lots of nice little hidey-holes for people to read... a separate room for kids books with lots of good interactive stuff for kids, and lots of alternative reading materials and activist information. I have the business experience to feel comfortable putting together loan proposals and to run the business, and together we have a lot of ideas. My concern is that in the age of Borders, Barnes and Noble, etc, does anyone ever go out of their way to shop in independent bookstores anymore? I've been trying to really think of ideas that could make a bookstore unique. We don't want to get rich, we just want to support ourselves doing something we enjoy.

Ideas I've considered:
*a used book store that also trades music, electronics, etc
*selling unique handmade stuffs on consignment
*a small bar
*really interactive offerings for a variety of interests

Nothing too unique I know, but maybe it's all in the presentation. DO people even go to bookstores anymore?

I'm a little confused as to why this image came up when I did a google image search for "bookworm"
