Coretta Scott King died Tuesday, at the age of 78. Thus the fight against race discrimination in the USA has lost another one of its great heroes.
After the murder of the Nobel Peace Price Winner Dr. Martin Luther King in 1968, Coretta took on a lot of his tasks, and were after a time seen as one of the most influencial American Blacks. As her husband, she all along held on to the principle of non-violent fight for justice.
Coretta Scott was born the 27th of April 1927, in Alabama. She spendt a lot of her childhood on a farm where she didn't notice much of the race discrimination, until she and her sister were sendt to Marion to go to school.
Corettas father had buildt up a small lorry firm, and his success anoyed white people in the erea. After being bothered in minor ways for a long time, their house was burned down on Thanksgiving 1942.
That was the turning point for Coretta, who a few years later met Martin Luther King. They got married in her parents home in 1954 and later had four children, who grew up in the family home in Montgomery, Alabama.
There Martin Luther King activly took part in the fight against segregation on busses. Coretta stood by him always, fully aware that she - as she herself put it - "was not married to a man, but a vision".

Henrik Ibsen - the scurge of Bergen
The ground was burning under the feet of Ibsen. He had to get out of Christiania. Luckily he was offered the job as head of "Den Nationale Sene" (the Norwegian Theater) in Bergen. The board director Karl Owe Gleditsch was an old friend of Ibsens mother, and owed her a favour, since she had stopped sleeping with him.
Henrik Ibsen grabbed this opportunity with both hands, and managed to provoke the Bergensers (a person from Bergen is called a Bergenser) from day one. You didn't have to do much to provoke the Bergensers back then either.
He was involved in the production of more than 145 plays as a writer, director, and producer. During this period he did not publish any new plays of his own. Despite Ibsen's failure to achieve success as a playwright, he gained a great deal of practical experience at the Norwegian Theater, experience that was to prove valuable when he continued writing.

NAA no 11: Grete Waitz - World Championship Gold in Marathon

Marathon is a sport that really needs no comment. No matter where you are from, this sport is equally difficult.

What: In the first World Championship in Marathon, Grete Waitz arrived at the stadium alone to cross the finishing line.
Where: The Olympic Stadium, Helsinki, Finland
Why: Grete Waitz is a living legend in Norwegian sports. She had full frequent flyer points on the gold from the New York Marathon, has several World Championships in terrain, and still holds the Norwegian records in 1500 metres and 3000 metres. And she became the first World Champion in Marathon.
Respect!
