Ever had something happen that you knew was going to happen, but you had no idea it would affect you as badly as it did? I'm in one of those situations right now. An ex of mine, who after a one year relationship has been my best friend for a further year has got a girlfriend. I am so happy for him, he's been really lonely and he really likes this girl, but it has really affected me. I hate that it has, because I just feel so selfish, thinking about myself. And I don't even want US to get back together or anything. I know that our friendship will change and I'm really nervous. But yeah, I could do with some verbal hugs right now if there are any on offer? Thanks!

Ahh, our emotions are so powerful and sneaky! Your schema of him is that he's single, and now that he isn't it's jarring for you. You're not being selfish just human like all of us are. It's tough being human. tongue Just give it time, you'll adjust. It's probably a good idea to not see/talk to him for a little bit, so that the adjustment mechanism can kick in.
