So this is why I fell in love with Rob...

Last night I was talking to him on the phone, and we started talking about childhood shows like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I mean, who the hell was like "Man, ninjas are cool, so are turtles--what if I made them teenager mutant ninja turtles and gave them surfer accents? Duuude, that'd be pretty sweet." The slower you say the name, the more ridiculous it sounds. During this discussion the topic of how every little kid has their own imaginary superhero self came up.

Rob started off by saying "Well, I wasn't a super-hero so much as I only kept my powers to myself. I only used them to benefit myself. I'd just use my powers to make my life easier."

Right then I started laughing so hard, I can imagine it. I can imagine a little Rob being so apathetic he doesn't even care to save other people.

"Like, if I missed the bus--well, it was okay because I could fly at the speed of light! If I watched TV all day and forgot to do my homework, luckily though I could spawn homework!"

I don't even know how the homework thing makes sense. I pointed out to him that as a superhero he could've probably gotten them to not make him go to school to which he replied "But then they'd try to experiment on me, and I wanted to make life easier for myself." He actually thought about all this stuff. I had my own superhero character, and of course she was a big, huge secret... but she actually kinda did something productive to others.

Some other abilities were to surf on dry land, by summoning a tidal wave of water from lord knows where...he could talk to animals, but when I asked him if he talked to his dog Ninja (I love the stories I hear about this dog, and it's name... a three year old telling his dad to name a dog ninja is just priceless. Also, a dog that pees specifically on my boyfriend's bookbag is amazing.) he replied "Nah, Ninja was a man of few words. After he'd come home from a long day of spying and sabatoging, he'd pee on my bookbag and then go open random doors--something I couldn't even do at the time."

Of course, he didn't have a superhero name, because he didn't need one because it was his secret identity. Also, most superhero names were really lame and obvious.

Anybody else got any cool superhero persona they came up with as a kid that they look back on and laugh at themselves for now? I for one had the power to transform into any animal I wanted and talk to animals. At the time I didn't care much for other people, but I've always loved animals so my super-persona made sense.

And I'm going to start painting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the windows of the Rave. I'm really worried because this time I will have to work with Brion and she will want to do half the art... Maybe she'll be better than me at ninja turtles, but I doubt it. I just hate when things aren't perfect, but I'm going to try to just be happy knowing I did my paintings awesome. I mean, I love her to death, just she didn't do as good as me with the Nightmare Before Christmas art... And I hate mixing styles. Oh well. Plus, she's going to be working when I can't and I hate that because I want to start tomorrow but I can't. Argh. The sad thing is I don't really want to do it, I was so frustraited last time I did all that, but I want it to be perfect.
