I took me a nice break from working in a 115 degree attic on electric, and decided to lend my hand to a friend of mine sorting out a card collection out in Glenview IL. What a crappy drive this morning, I totally forgot that I294 had construction up near Dempster and I had to sit in traffic adding an extra 30 min to my trip, which totally sucked, this was on top of the 20 min I had to wait in line at the post office.... How the heck can there be a line with like 15 people in the post office at 9:15am ????
Well, i finally got where I was supposed to be @ around 10:45, when I was supposed to be there @ 10, but what are you gonna do? I got about 3/4 of the way through the job I was doing and am going to have to go back out there on Friday.
A little backstory on this 'job':
About three months ago a friend of mine (DON) that used to collected CCG's, TCG's and Mini's (magic the gathering, star trek, Lord of the rings, etc) became very ill and passed away. He worked @ a place called All Star Trading Cards, which is an internet/mail order business and I knew the owner. Well, Don willed me a good chunk of the collection & the owner of the store the rest of it, but since he only sells boxes and complete products he didnt know much about the individual stuff and needed my help to sort out the collection, find out what was there, and how much the stuff is worth. So I completed much of the task but there is still some work left, and I know that I will be getting the stuff out of the collection that I would like to keep.
Don was a good friend and it was pretty wierd to be going through his stuff and finding out what was there, and what he was missing especially when I was going through his notes and lists that he always hand wrote.
But hopefully now he is at peace.
ON A LIGHTER SIDE:
My friend Andrew is coming in from TN this weekend and staying he @ I are staying at another friends house up in Gurnee. Hopefully we are going to get some CCG games in as well as a few games of Frisbee Golf.
