absinthe is back
and i'm it's latest advocate. the old absinthe bar, on pirates ally in the french quarter, is one of the places to try this fine spirit while in the big easy. they have at least three different absinthes on hand and will perform "the ritual" at bar side. i chose to imbibe al fresco at the tables just outside. a fine cigar, such as my rocky patel "edge" are a perfect compliment to this anise flavored herbal spirit.
one evening we also found "la maison d'absinthe at 823 rue royale" just as they were closing. i purchased two absinthe glasses and plan to by more from thier online store. unfortunately it was my last night in the big easy so i didn't get the chance to tour the museum housed there. (next visit)
i have had a bottle of "lucid absinthe" for months and purchased an antique spoon. couldn't wait to get home to perform the ritual.

alas, no apperance of "the green fairy" but a satisfying experience none the less. can't wait 'til i can enjoy this spirit in one or more of my local watering holes. won't be much variety though, i live in an ABC controlled state that limits what alcohol one may purchase.
