The VP of my company has hired an expensive consultant to preside over a retreat to discuss the problems in our administration. I could have provided the advice for free - but go figure.

Anyway, i recount this one experience to the consultant as an example of the "Good Old Boy" attitude that my boss has fostered - I'm curious to get your opinions:

We spent all morning working out a solution to a problem within the company. There were three guys and myself. As lunch time approached they starting discussing their lunch plans. As the morning progressed they started making calls to other guys in the building - asking them if they wanted to join them for lunch. Finally it's time for them to leave. And my boss turns to me and says - while we are gone - you can finish the spreadsheet. And then they all left for lunch.

Oh, I see, I not only don't get invited - I'm expected to stay in and finish the project during my lunch hour.
Gee, does anyone see a disconnect here?

So the consultant tells me that they didn't mean anything by that. Really? So the fact that I have never been invited to the daily lunches does not mean that I'm being deliberately excluded? Given her response - i can already tell this retreat is going to be a waste of time.

So last week my boss made a comment that I had not provided him with something he wanted. I apologized - telling him that I did not recall the request being made. I asked him specifically when did he request the information. He said that he had discussed it with me during lunch the prior week. I looked him square in the face and said - Oh, really? I don't recall EVER having been invited to lunch with you. He paused and said - Oh, I'm sorry, your right - you were'nt there when we (he and the guys)had that discussion.

Duh, do you think?

So, am I overreacting - or am I in the grips of the "Good Old Boys" network....

I started having a reaction to the medication, late last night I started having a racing heart, and really bad jitters...I got in to see the dr. today, and he said it was a mix of the paxil/zoloft, that my body was too sensitive to it all, and he took me off the zoloft and now I am just going to stay on paxil only since I never had issues bieng on it before...I am feeling better now, still a bit jittery, but its gonna tke another 24 hrs for the zoloft to be out of my system...oh this sucks. whatever
