seriously.. its just the slowness of it all that has be a bit frustrated.
My weekend was great though...
First off, on saturday night, the beautiful Smuffy was kind enough to come pick up my sorry ass
over here in good ol brockton.
Then we were on to Alyks, where a birthday dinner had been prepared in my honor
The food was excellent, and the company even greater...
these ladies are the coolest of the cool, and i thank them both for putting up with me.
Beef tenderloin with gorgonzola sauce, salad, roasted tomatoes, cheese, wine...
and of course...
the standard sat. night scary movie.
We watched the remake of "When a stranger calls"
not nearly as good as the original, despite the hotness of Camille Bell ( i think thats her name?)
i also made them watch "Ravenous" which Smuffy had seen before, but i don't think Alyk was overly impressed.
I still think its up there along with "Parents" as one of my favorite cannibal comedies/horror films
oohhh... I also got some goodies!
including the book "The wind up bird chronicle" by Haruki Murakami
now previous to this book, i have only read one other by him (Kafka on the shore)
but this one i started to read yesterday afternoon... and i was hooked!
Quirky as all hell, with really bizarre characters... and so far i am a hundred pages into it.
Then last night Dorwayin took me out for sushi, and lots of it..
we went to a place called "Bamboo".. it was our first time there, and i know we both plan on going back.
The sushi was amazing!
then we went across the street to take in "The davinci code"
despite hearing all the mixed reviews, we were still curious...as we were both big fans of the book.
Well... i actually liked it.
but i didn't love it. Fair enough?
I thought Langdons character was a little watered down, and even though i like Tom Hanks, i'm still debating
if he was the best casting choice.
However, Ron Howard did stick pretty close to the book, and Ian McKellan just chews up the fucking scenery!
which of course, is what we all expect from him..
he was a good choice to play Teabing.
Paul Bettany as the albino monk Cilus was really good also, making his religious fanatic/murderer even somewhat of a sympathetic character.
and Audrey Tautou, despite her whimsical elfin like look, still manages to pull off the character of Sophie.
I tried desperately to overlook her cuteness, as i had pictured her when reading the book, as a hottie who was just a litle more hard around the edges.
If you are not a fan of the book, then obviously i'm not sure if i recommend it...
but if you are a fan of conspiracies or the history of religion in general, you may want to give it a shot.
