Some people think you're a successful parent if your kid becomes a celebrity, a major sports star, valedictorian, or something else momentous. Others think if you get your kid to graduate, stay out of jail, or they turn 18 (so you can kick them out of your home) means you did a "good" job.
But there are only 3 ways to truly measure you did...

Very valid measures. I’m proud of my kids now that they are adults, they’re still finding their way & struggling as kids do nowadays but they had (mostly) happy, supportive, childhoods with few of the hardships I had & none of the abuse. Β & yes, they do still want to spend time with me! I still wonder if they’re too soft though πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

@skisby sounds like you did a great job then sir!πŸ‘

Happy mother's day to all the moms out there! Biological, adopted, step or fur, if you identify as female and you help care for a life other than your own, I hope you have a wonderful day 😊 πŸ’

That is a wonderful message, my friend! πŸ‘πŸ»

This came up in my "Like artists you've listened to" and I was instantly taken back the roughly 2 decades since this album came out, and I still was headbanging to it :D

fredhincanada:
I was just head banging to this on Monday!
sheashannara:
@fredhincanada that's awesome man! πŸ˜πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

The other day a scammer hit me up on Twitter, and after a day of talking they gave me their variation of "When do you plan on retiring?" since for some reason all these scammers claim to work in banking. The mood I was in, I decided to go with brutal honesty.

"I will probably work until I die, like most Americans my age unless...

so the subscription to the last of the dating apps I'd been on lapsed the other day, and it's a sign from the universe that at my age and where I live, I'm not meant to date. In 3 months time not one woman responded to me, and every other day when I'd log in the "you're still new, no likes or messages" that would...

@skisby and @sheashannara, I have no problem with having an arranged marriage.Β  Provided I was the one arranging it... Lol.

A while back I was walking from one of our casinos to another to do some work, and I was walking with an older coworker (he was 68). They have young women on Fremont Street dressed scantily that pose for pictures with tourists for money (they leave us alone since we're in uniforms and clearly working). My coworker snorted as we walked by one pair...

We sell ourSELVES, at least in pieces.Β  There are vast tracts of my mind devoted to things I wouldn't otherwise think about, and a lot of emotional investment in things I wouldn't otherwise care about.Β  It's always been this way.Β  I doubt neolithic people were making any fundamentally different choice.Β  Gotta get out there and find those berries, kill that game, evade the predators - and every step you take to further your life has a cost.

Tagged by @fullfeeling so I'll give it a go, but I promise this will be super boring LOL:

1. 3 favorite things you like about spring.

It's getting hot again finally, it stops being cold again thankfully, and the days are longer

2. Who's going on vacation, holiday, or weekend getaways this spring?

I don't go on vacation (can't afford them, have nowhere to go...

I’m the opposite @sheashannara, I find Vegas terrifying & claustrophobic- I couldn’t find my way outside one time at a conference, freaked me right out! It does get a bit warm out your way lately though! Oh & a few years back I was sauntering in the Lost Dutchman State Park, Arizona, in May & was pretty alarmed to find that while the bloom was amazing it was also snake season!
sheashannara:
@skisby having been born and raised here, I never thought how it might feel to others. And snakes, no thank you!
